Transitioning to Healthy Snacks!

Dear Barton Hill families,

In order to boost student health and academic performance we will be transitioning our school to healthy snacks. We ask that you help us by sending your students to school with nutrient-dense snacks such as diced apples, carrot sticks, and whole-grain crackers; instead of cookies, chips, or sodas. For a complete list of district approved snacks please click the following link: Healthy Snack List

School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support

Barton Hill Elementary is strongly against bullying. The website stopbullying.org describes bullying as unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a power imbalance. The behavior is repeated and affects both the bully and the chid who gets bullied Bullying can be verbal like making threats, social like forcing others to leave another child out, or physical like hitting or breaking another person's things.

Two friends who have a disagreement is not a form of bullying. We encourage them to talk about the problem and work out their differences.

Everyday we remind our students of the three school rules:

We also work with our staff and our families to make sure our students are safe.

PSA/Attendance Coordinator

Every month Barton Hill recognizes one class per grade with the best attendance. Students reaching the goal of 7 or less absences (“96% Attendance Club”) will be recognized with a special end-of-the-year awards assembly with medallion necklaces. Students with “Perfect Attendance” (zero absences, zero tardies) will receive a trophy. Remember to attend school every day and on time.
